Dim headlamps
Hi to all
Does anyone know of a way to increase the power of my headlamp beams.
They have always been fairly poor in relation to other vehicles.
1985 T25.
Regards...Frank

Re: Dim headlamps
what the good man says for a sure-fire strong beam, or for a cheaper alternative try a good clean up of your earth crowns! (in the wiki under 'bad earths'). Helped my lights by about 15-20%

Why didn't I find this forum years ago?

Re: Dim headlamps
I got some uprated bulbs from Hcoughds
Seemed to do the trick lovely - not sure if the wiring is supposed to be up to the 80/100 watt increase

Re: Dim headlamps
It isn't. Your headlamp switch will melt due to the poor design of the T25 wiring. Maybe not next week but sometime unless you do the relay upgrade in the wiki which is the best way to get full power to your lamps and the only way to prevent your switch from melting when running illegal (for road use) bulbs.Fin wrote:I got some uprated bulbs from Hcoughds

Fitting the 50% brighter bulbs is a start but I bet you don't get the full alternator voltage to your bulb connectors

Re: Dim headlamps
I found the lamps (H4) supplied from brickworks wouldn't fit my round headlamps.
It transpired that my headlamps needed replacing with a later type so I sent them back.
I was in Halfords today and just happened to mention this to one of the sales guys who took me to get Halfords own branded halogen bulbs that were a straight swap and cheaper than Brickworks.
Rated exactly the same, fitted perfectly and work a treat.
No noticable change in my ammeter or voltmeter dials and I can now see the road ahead.

Re: Dim headlamps
What voltage do you get at the bulb connectors? I bet it's not the same as what you get at the battery
Also you can get H4 style bulbs for the old lamps but H4's are more than just a bulb the actual lens is better

Re: Dim headlamps
I went for the bulbs recommended by trev and others from brickworks but they didn't fit so they went back.
I haven't tested with a meter but the Halfords work ok with no discernable change on my dials so thats that as far as I can see.
If it works, it works.
