Glass replacement

Post by foxley »

My van has been resprayed. Its finished and looks great but they are struggling to get the side windows back on her. I've supplied new seals from JK.
Can anyone advise or suggest any tips on this problem.

JK rubbers fit badly. I think its been answered for you in other thread now but where you can't get originals or where originals are non applicable, seals direct is only option. Chickenkoop and I experienced this on windscreen seals and whilst the JK version will go in (with work) it doesn't look great whereas an original goes in easy and looks spot on. Its just one of those areas where you get what you pay for I think.

This is balls up after balls up on my part.
On closer inspection I've found that the sliding door window is metal to glass but other side windows are metal plus internal plastic to glass ie: a double skin.
No wonder they are struggling.
The rubber profile on the JK supplied kit seals are 1m to 4m slots when they need to be 5m to 5m or thereabouts to cope with the double skin.
Nothing wrong with the actual rubber seals in fact.
JK supplied them in good faith for a converted van and they would have been fine.
They don't cater for or take into account the Autosleeper insulation inner linings.
I have bought from seals direct in the past and will be ordering the correct sizes and lengths in future.
Another point to take note of for Autosleeper owners of early year models is the sliding door is not insulated therefore requiring a different seal and is metal to glass.
It's become a major pain in the a***.
