It's so true and I had an '85 RR with a working heater!
I once heard RR maintenance described as "relentless" and that just about sums them up. Makes syncro servicing look like minor tinkering in comparison.

working heater eh, a rare model.
my last 130 had this knack of when more than a 1/2 cm of snow had built up on window the blade used to struggle across the window, stop and then suddenly fling itself across the carridgeway, snow, blade and all.
what used to really annoy on the single cab was the horse/ donkey hair/ felt seal (sic!) round the back sliding window, it used to come out or rot,if u gave it a funny look/ talked about it, let alone use a pressure washer near it,( new models too ) letting you have a freezing neck and an enjoyable glass / metal rattle.

my heater works just fine and the wipers.
and i can find spares easily.
somebody always got a diff or similar kickin around.

Good for you mate,we're all offroaders whatever beast we choose!! I bought a 1950 series 1 landy 40 odd years ago and it had NO HEATER AT ALL!!!! I bought it for 30 quid and sold it soon after for 50!! tax mot etc. Wot a dick!!! I recently had a 110 300tdi van with Salisbury lsd.good bit of kit. Parts easy to come by, s/h front diff 40 quid!! But I just LOVE my syncro. Sticker idea VW SYNCRO UBER ALLE IS! {check spelling}!
