16" tyre sizes

Already making a list of unessential purchases, and was wondering best tyre size for an AT tyre. What will fit with no lift kit? What will fit with a lift kit?
Is it worth fitting spacers to a 16"? Or are they high enough.
I get a bit confused with tyre sizes. I've seen these so far, what size are these?

These look quite chunky and nice, would these involve a lift kit?

sizes vary as a 30" tyre will fit if its 8" wide but if its 10" wide it wont fit. wheel off set is also important and it also depends on tread type. a 205/16 road tyre will be about 29" tall, same in an AT will be a bit bigger and a MT will be a bit bigger again.

on the rear your governed by the swing arm on the front by the arch.

i`m running 255/65/16 AT`s on my 16". its lifted a bit and i dont get problems with rubbing. gearing is interesting with the 2.1 to say the least, you need to concider this also.

I think with gearing i'll be ok as i've got a 1.6td which has a low geared box in 16" guise. What size spacers have you fitted?
Bernd seems to use 225/75/16 are these roughly the same size as yours?

over all diameter is about the same size but mine are a fair bit wider.

what f/d ratio / gearbox code have you got.

Will have to look up that stuff when i get the bus delivered. Will do more important stuff first, like MOT and paint Then i'll see what money i have left over for toy's [lots hopefully]

Keep the rolling diameter the same as it is now Lloyd or you will regret it big time. Long flat drives on motor ways or down hill you will think yeh not to bad, but on country lanes with bends on hills your screwed. Go bigger and you up your gearing in every gear including G gear thus making your van less effective off road. 1.6td engines are amazing at good mpg return and arnt terribly offensive but they are no power house, I personally would be quite happy with one and the 40mpg that you get from them

Hmmm there was a sticker on the door jam for the tyre sizes, so guess i'll stick to that. No point in it looking the part, but being useless off road.
At least until i get a bigger engine
On another note Jed, just watched your greenlaning vid on another thread. Some of those angles look scary, the nice sandy bit at the end looked better

Hehehe because of the angle the diesel engines sit at I could have swore we had them up side down in Wales the other weekend on the North route
