water pump

water pump

how do i tell if me water pump is no good or dying? ive took all of if off to check for blockages, checked the big hoses running from front to back, checked rad and thermostat all good, the pump is the last thing im not sure about, my radiator wasnt getting warm at all. its a 1.6d engine.

only thing to break on a pump is the bearings
when they fail the pump pisses coolant out

Give it a spin and if you can hear the bearing it is on the way out.

What he means Kev is that the impellor can deteriorate/erode/suffer erosion etc and have a reduced area in which to circulate water, which happened in my case, new pump and temp now stable and heater working better etc

Ok thanks, pump seems fine then goin on that info, the last thing is the radiator, should it be hard to blow through, I blow through one end and it feels a little hard for the air pass through? Is thAt normal or should the blowing be very easy?

Sounds like there's a bit of goop in there, should be easy
