fuel guage

Post by ambibus »

HI everyone,

We had our first proper 'run out' in the van last sunday, a trip to Cleveleys, Blackpool & Fleetwood for fish & chips and to let the dogs run on the beach.
I filled the tank which took 47 litres to switch off the pump, so presume there must have been 13 litres in if its a 60 litre tank. When I put the ignition on, the needle on the guage shot from just over quarter of a tank to off the scale. the needle stayed in that position all the way to Blackpool, 65 miles and and only moved about 5mm when we got home. After reading an earlier post I had reset the trip meter to zero and allowed for approx 200 miles to a full tank, mine was still registering over half a tank after 198 . Would you say it was the guage or sender? ta Paul

Well that would depend on whether you have a petrol or diesel and your avarage speed. You could also fill it up again and that will let you know how many literes you have used and that will let you know if your fuel guage is correct.
