Why should we have our holiday in Scotland next year
Hello you all,
A very simple question;
If we would like to visit Wales and Scotland next year during our 3 weeks of Vacation, why should we go to Wales and Scotland?
What are the advantages and what are the things you must see.
We still are not sure about going to Wales/Scotland, or Rumania, or Tunesia.
Greetings from Robert

Re: Why should we have our holiday in Scotland next year
Because it's the bestest country in the whole wide world:
- Incredible Scenery (mountains, beaches, islands, rugged coastlines, rolling hills - it has everything)
- Underpopulated (I find that a lack of general public on holiday is a good thing)
- Good food and drink (with emphasis on the latter)
- Cracking cities if you fancy a bit of culture / civilisation (Glasgow, Edinburgh and, erm, Aberdeen)
It's also much bigger in reality than it appears on a map, basically because of the complexity of the Western coastline (the many winding inlets and headlands) and the many islands accesible via ferry to explore. You could spend months in Scotland and not see everything.
Basically it's perfect stomping ground for a camper van holiday. If you decide to go ahead, there'll be no shortage of people on here (including myself) that will offer advice and the benefit of their experience on where to stay / what to do / where to see etc.
Do it!!

Scotland, every time. I've been there and had a great time, visiting Loch ness, Nairn and places nearby. Might even go there this coming year! Its a long drive from where I live but well worth it. Watch out for speed cameras on the A9....

Re: Why should we have our holiday in Scotland next year
I say WALES eveytime!! Scotland is indeed beautiful but the rain in dismal and the damned midges are more annoying than you could ever imagine. We spent two weeks travelling around Scotland and covered 2,000 miles in all, it was spectacular but we rarely met a Scots person and the damned midges got in through every conceivable gap in the van. Most of the pubs, campsites and hotel bars we visited were run by English people escaping to Scotland - that was a bit disappointing.
Wales however, is a lot closer, you have access to ireland via Holyhead and all the scenery you can take in, fabulous food, real ale pubs and from north Wales you have easy access to Liverpool too. Top stuff!!

just so you know Scotland gets its best weather in May every year, this is also pre-midge time season.
