Oil Breather Tower Seal?

Post by Cruz »

I replaced the seal on the oil breather tower today.

When I removed the tower there was no rubber o-ring seal present but there was a plastic ring that was in quite a number of pieces that sat in a recess on the tower base.

Was that the original seal or am I now missing something?

Part diagram just shows the tower with the o-ring seal

That's the O ring that has degraded.
That's what happens.

Cheers Simon

I knew you said the old seal will be in pieces but I didn't expect it to look like it was plastic :ok

Any idea what size o ring these are or where to get one?

Got a bit of a weep from mine so best have it done before it becomes a pour.

Cheers

Cheers Cruz, me nearest dealer is about 25 miles away, so will cost more in fuel :D

Was hoping it was 50mm or less, got a good supply at work all sizes 50 to 3 mm, never mind, will source one that size online.
Thanks again!

Changed my seal today, no wonder it was leaking, the existing one was bigger and didnt fit in the recess but outside it.
Of course its the usual with me, nothing is straightforward, took the tower off, lost a washer on the road. No prob, got some in the shed, new seal, tower back on, washers on, lost a nut under carb, could I find it? Not a chance!
got any spares to fit?? Not a chance!!
Had to go into work to get a replacement (got 3 cos i'm bound to lose another) :!:
