If you use gas shocks like OME's then its easy, they go up through the hole themselves

If you use gas shocks like OME's then its easy, they go up through the hole themselves

The spring is already compressed with the weight of the van before you jack it up so gives you a little head start before you start to turn the compressors

Having fitted Seikels earlier this year - I did exactly what Clive suggests above.
And the OMEs just popped up on their own....which was great, no faffing about!

Simples.....

Thanks all I did it after lots of swearing!

I did it by just fitting the shock first then when its in, fit it to the lower swing arm....simples!
