as asked, syncro / delica compare.

Post by ..lee.. »

ok i`ll try and be impartial and leave the + and -`s up to you.

the long wheelbase delica super exceed l400. "2nd shape basically" is i think a really good vehicle. its loaded with stuff, climate air con front and rear zones, electric windows, electric mirrors which fold in with a push of a button central locking auto close sliding door you get the picture.

for what we use the delica for it is i hate to say it as good if not better than a syncro. auto box is super lazy, which can be a good thing, 7 captain style seats, very plush fancy sunroof type things in the roof, and is a piece of cake to drive. super select 4wd is good "ish" runs 2wd most of the time then lever forward gives you 4wd with open centre diff "pretty useless really" and then lever forward again gives you centre diff lock also. this can all be done on the move. lever fully forward then gives you low range box with 4wd and centre lock. you have to stop to engage this. no cross axle locks standard but apparently you can fit a locker to the "big axle" only fitted on the lwb models. 2.8 turbo diesel engine has plenty of go in it but no faster than a good 2.1 or tdi syncro because it weighs about the same as a small housing estate. fuel enonomy is grim. max 24mpg on a run poss 15mpg stop and start around town.

in the snow it was awsome fun, auto box and 2wd meant 100 yard drifts easy, changing up as speed increased. got stuck a few times and sticking it in 4wd got me away again.

so as a on road 4x4 people carrier it`s not bad. you dont get the i can go anywhere feeling you get with a syncro mainly because it wont go anywhere.

i wouldn`t class them as being in the same league really the syncro will run rings around the delica off road and beat it hands down when it comes to driving enjoyment and soul. if i had to choose between the two it would be simple. syncro every time. if i couldn`t afford the purchace cost of a syncro then a delica would probally be next on the list but anyone thinking of getting one better realise when they go wrong they go wrong big style and cost a fortune for new parts.

hope i haven`t bored you all too much.

well beauty is said to be in the eye of the beholder. i like the way they look but not as much as the t3. something i didn`t mention is also the floor height is so high that there`s very little head height inside comparde to a syncro.

Funny you should compare the delica to a syncro.... or try

We have a few locally and whenever me and sharon see them we say
