Missing hose

Post by foxley »

My mechanic (deceased) removed a hose fron the engine bay and said I wouldn't miss it as it would make starting easier.
The hose was about 2.5 inch diameter or perhaps a bit bigger and made out of what looked like thin corregated foil material. I'm not sure where it came from or went to but I think it was to do with the air cleaner.
I can't find it in the Haynes manual or on the JK site.
Advice appreciated.

Have a look at the air-box. On the right hand side is the inlet. On my van, 2 ltr air-cooled, a pipe comes off this and goes into the space below the right hand air intake on the side of the van. I guess it does this so the engine is sucking in "cold dense" air rather than the hot air from directly above the engine.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

please try and quote your engine type for a definitive answer, maybe put it in your signature?

If it was that, then your deceased mechanic was right ... you don't need it
