westy hob upgrade

Post by ..lee.. »

hi guys, i feel that my westy hobs are a bit slow to boil the kettle, now i`m running butane inside the van atm from bottles. i have heard that there are different regulators on the german westy underslung tank and dont know if this is my problem. has anyone researched as to whether an upgrade or mod is available to turbo my hob.

cheers lee.

Have a look on here for a high pressure regulator

I'm pretty sure the Westy hob wants a 50mb rather than "the standard" 37mb one

29!
Running a 37mbar. Hob & fridge work okay, but our Truma heater doesn't get real hot... when it's colder then -10 it takes awhile to warm things up. Been meaning to pick up a 50mbar, but haven't got around to it.

cant seem to find a 50 mbar reg thats screws on top of the 907 bottles, may just end up putting the under tank on will gain some space inside also.

You can join Jed pooping your pants every 5 mins about damaging the tank that way...

907 is Butane not propane, not sure what Mb that should be, possibly the same but not 100%, check the manual in the wiki for the cooker specs. Also its a very expensive way of doing things - get yourself onto Calor Gas propane it's a lot cheaper - smallCalor Propane fits in the cupboard no trouble.

Camping Gaz is useful in Europe but even then you can get adapters to fit other brands. If you go to your local Build Centre they can do you a new Calor bottle without a deposit, there's an option on the form for them to tick, you simply pay for the gas

i know the 907`s are pants but its convenient as i can carry 2 bottles in the cupboard so i always have a spare. jed seems to manage fine with the underslung tank but it has to be more of a risk. perhaps if i only off road behind jed i`ll be ok.
