Help! Bull bar wont seem to fit

Post by jlk55 »

Hi there, we recently bought a bull bar for our type 25 camper from a chap at the autojumble at Stonor. He assured us it came off his Caravelle and as we didnt have out type 25 with us, had our type 4 instead, we took his word for it. However since we have tried to fit it, it doesn't line up with the chassis and we are worryed it isnt for a type 3 after all. Can anyone who has one let us know how it should fit on, as without seeing one it is difficult to see. Are any modifications needed to make it fit? Would appreciate any help so we dont waste the money we spent on it, by not being able to use it.

ours didn't seem to fit either - until 3 of us tried - me and son holding the thing up, and John underneath with bolts and the odd swar word!!

It wasn't obvious from first look and fit - but we got there eventually .

There is a slot on the underside of the chassis rails, that stubby bits on the bull bar bracket that slotted into these holes in the chassis. We then had brackets that did not appear to fit over the chassis rail - they looked way too small. But once the thing was offered up, and bolts done up, the bracket tightened over the chassis.

It made alot more sense once it was offered up.

You got any piccies - or we can take piccies if it helps

they do vary, made by diferent manufacturers - the ones from SA require removal of the tow hitch to fit
Sell it on, you know it makes sense

If you turn it the other way it will fit in a skip just fine.

The stock answer would be "cut six inches off the bottom, then another six, then another, then another until you only have six or less left. Than it will go in a wheely bin and you don't have to find a skip" Don't sell it on, that's just passing a child decapititation device into someone else's hands; destroy it while you can!

I know this kind of thing is frowned apon by the whingers but honestly they should be illegal.

 The reason we want it, apart from the Taliban moving into the area, I am quite concerned about Jake ( Syncro 101 ) driving over the top of ours to try and prove to us its better to have a Syncro
