When my van was resprayed they did a good job of getting inside doors etc sprayed, but unfortunately the vin plate is completely covered in paint!
Was thinking about "very carefully" applying a bit of paint remover to it, but will this obliterate any numbers, or are they stamped on?

Re: Vin plate painted over
Hello,
I've been down this route.
Put masking tape around the plate, just covering the edge of the plate itself. Use a hard piece of plastic (the top of a bic biro) to rub down this edge. A few drops of thinners or stripper on the end of a cotton bud will do the trick, leaving the stamped numbers in colour, but the plate silver. Clean up the plate with a little alcohol, let dry for 2-3 days, then spray clear lacquer. Remove masking tape, and Voila
Cordialement,

Re: Vin plate painted over
drill out the rivets and clean then re rivet.
Would be worried about quality of work if cannot be bothered to remove plate that is held on by 2 rivets and just paint over it. What else just got painted over?
