Budice, from my understanding there's no wire (implying it's electrical) it's a cable that runs from the lever to the fuel pump. I guess you first point would be to check if it's connected? ... someone pulls out the lever while someone else checks for movement on the pump? After that ... hhmmm, service, glow plugs or even pump timing?

You could just block the lever at the pump in the fully engaged postion ...leave the lever pulled all the time so to speak. Quite a few people on german forums do this until they get round to fixing the wire pulley thingy. The "cold start" feature (slightly earlier injection) stops to work above 2000 rpm (or so) anyway

The former, you pull the lever to put it on. Then you forget it until you remember it 10 miles later  but it doesn't matter too much, unlike a choke.

I don't know what you mean by that... cam belt not on it?

Any chance you could use a few sentences to split up that diatribe a bit, so others can read it a bit easier, this is a forum with a full keyboard & text editor, not a mobile phone.

Cheers

PS. The lever is lower left of steering column AFAIK, it pulls out from the bottom of the fascia, like a flap IIRC

Wow chillout man :run

I was just meaning which way the rod on the Diesel pump was faceing.
So the front of the engine is where the cambelt is and the rear of the engine is where the flywheel meets the gearbox's
Hope this helps you Understand. :pimp

So i hav moved the choke and its fires up everytime :ok

diatribe.
Listening to a lengthy diatribe may seem like a waste of time, an attitude for which there is some etymological justification.

Good night and God Blass

ha!well you did ask if therd been just one indication of were a sentence end and another start i probably wouldnt of said but a line has to be drawn somewhere, even a linebreak

251 711 501E Cold-start cable (late type, for dash flap lever, not knob type)

That'll probably be a lot of dosh, who knows, £50, VW commercial parts will tell you with a phone call

Or call SyncrosparesUK, Devon, who may well have a 2nd hand one... maybe Syncro-Nutz, Shotts, will too.

There's an extra dash piece that screws under the main dash board, to the left of the steering wheel (if it's a RHD) There's a LHD version on http://www.ebay.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; if you search for Chokezughalter.
