Am I a 2e2 or 2e3 ...

Post by scania530 »

... and, MORE importantly, how do I tell the difference????? (any references to SWMBO will be ignored)

The Plot so far; A 1990 reg, Autohomes Komet, 1.9 Petrol, Automatic Transmission (SEE !! I really AM almost Tech-Savvy!!!) with a brand new fuel tank... but with an underlying fault in a semi-poorly Pierburg Carb, hidden by the inability to get more than 10 mpg from a Water/Fuel Mix. (Just a thought: If the Scientists EVER crack that 'Power from H2O' Theory then I reckon our Vans will be worth a Fortune!!!!!)

I contacted a Pierburg Carb Doctor over the 'phone who immediately baffled me with the above question! I couldn't give him an answer and went out to have a look. It just says Pierburg 2e on the offending item for fooks sake! He also asked me which engine variant I had???? I promised him that my engine had NEVER been on ANY of those 'funny/peculiar' sites in its' life and, if it HAD then I would cancel the mobile broadband connection. On reflection, THAT might explain the flat battery every Monday Morning? (Is my Van a Facebook Addict?)

So ... The Thrust of the Question ( and, again, references to SWMBO... et.al.) is simply this - Am I the only person in the whole of the United Kingdom that owns a 1990 reg Transporter with a Carb problem ???

well, having googled it - use the google image tab - open one in 2e2 and another one showing 2e3....I THINK I can see differences.....print out and compare with yours.

or take some good quality photos, host them with photobucket or sommat, then put them on the forum. Seems like you should be sqared, equated then cubed if standard, but the other would fit and work after a fashion....

Hi Em.... well, sort of. Can we state publicly, right here and now, that we have NO prior knowledge of each other? Please???

I followed your advice and was googling away quite happily, when SWMBO peered intently over her glasses at me, with that 'Death Stare' that some VW Widows seem to possess, and asked me what I was doing on the lappy.

I quite happily told her that I had received a response from someone called Emma with an 'e' on a Members Only Forum and that she had suggested that I should take some good quality photos and put them on the Forum so that we could compare the differences....

In retrospect, I DO vaguely remember the Paramedics putting me into the Ambulance - but, quite honestly, everything else is a blank.

If owning a T25 is going to be like this then I am just thankful that I don't own one of those bloody great Hyper thingies!!!!

Got to go - Bed Bath time.
