You can run a positive feed off the battery, but consider fitting a fuse in-line as well. There's a bit of a difference of opinion when it comes to running a feed off the negative terminal. In theory you can connect the negative terminal of the lighter to any bare bit of metal in the camper (negative earth). Personally I prefer to run a wire back to the battery or to a handy earth point.

I would do as above, fuse from +ve, and earth to battery too, and would use one of these with the plug cut off http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CAR-CIGARETTE-LIG ... 43a1eb1d3f

Sounds good to me.. just be sure you don't plug anything heavier in ie: cooler box or 12volt hoover (Dirt Devil) cus you will instantly blow the fuse. Good for the things you stated tho..

err....I am no expert, but I have been told to careful with ciggie lighters and more powerful stuff...it all gets warm....and where's there warmth, there's the potential for fire.... So make sure your wiring is up to the job, and the fuse.

Not much help, but just a bit of advice I was given.

If you buy those stacked ciggy sockets (lots do them for around a fiver), just open them up and solder in a meatier cable. Thats what I did. In fact its probably one of those instances where you can get away with positive to positive on leisure battery and just earth the other on the body. Yes I'd fuse it but on the leisure side you should have a mini fuse box anyway.
