Westfalia style buddy seat box securing straps

After all the talk of devon toilet boxes I have gone and splurged on a repro Westfalia buddy seat box (larger 43cm high size) for my portaloo

I was wondering what people have used for securing straps? I have the metal brackets that screw to the van I just need the leather straps.

Would something like a dog collar be good enough?

Found some white saddle bag straps (30cm) that will do just nicely (£5.19)
