dose any one know what the current rating/loading is for the starter solonoid at the inigition switch, i guess that you can see where i am going with this?

No sorry but if the question is.......do ignition switches fail on the last movement (switching the starter solenoid) then yes.
About £9.00 from GSF and a common part across much of the VW/Audi range late 70's through to mid 90's. Infact I changed the same switch on three of my VW's: two passats and my daughters Polo.

sorrey martin it was more to do with making a basic imobaliser just looking at the rating of switched or if i will need to incorperate a relay on the starter circit?
