tyres fit almost
finaly got my tyres on today (245 75 16 bf goodrich KM2's on Mefro rims). I fitted a 30mm lift kit from Syncro services to make enough room for them and apart from the fronts caching a bit on the arch trim at the front they just about squeeze in, plenty of room at the back.
the doka now sits at about 19.5" road to bottom of the sill, rear tyres 21.5" center of wheel to arch trim and front 19.5" center of wheel to arch trim.
the front left wheel is the tightest as it seems to sit further forward than the right hand wheel?? anyway the tracking is all to pot so that might help.

Re: tyres fit almost
there are some bad clunking noises comimng from the back so i think the rear shocks are topping out.

Re: tyres fit almost
do you think there`s enough room there to off road. i tried that size on my 16" and felt they were too big.

No sh*t Are they standard shocks? The rear of my Westy sits 4cm lower than yours but with a full tank of Diesel, water, camping stuff and three bikes on the back seems to bring it down a tad and stops it from topping out.

Re: tyres fit almost
To off road that size you will need to stretch the arches. Even then you will catch the leading edge of the off side front arch. As this wheel well is slightly smaller than the near side.

Re: tyres fit almost
Get the Trailmaster shocks from Syncro services as well. That will stop the bottoming out at the rear but that wont matter cuz you will be ripping out your front arches with those tyres!

Re: tyres fit almost
Love the look of those tires! I've always thought this size tire set up looks best on a syncro. Shame about all the work that is needed to get clearances right. It's like the one of the only 4x4s I can think of that cannot be fitted with tires above 30" unless heavily modified. "pooh" even my mates suzuki vitara easily fits larger tires without any mods.
I have 30x9.5x15 on mine and find the brick still makes them look disproportionately small and gearing is still too low with a 6.17 r&p. Very interested to see how you get issues sorted in the front wells. Whatever you do don't buy smaller tires.

Re: tyres fit almost
been running around with these for a week or so now so far so good. I went off roading at an old mine works yesterday, the only thing that catches is the front wheels on the front of the plastic arch trim, no metal to tyre contact, I was zooming down a couple of green lanes and the back wheels came of the ground a couple of times so there was plenty of weight on the front admitedly only while going straight, the left hand seems to catch more than the right.
I'm not saying they won't catch the actual metal arch but they havent so far and I wasnt taking things slowly while off road.
On the road the 2.1 has enough power to cope with the higher overall gearing, and although i think i might have lost a bit of top speed (speedo is a bit out now) acceleration is still fine.
I plan to fit longer shocks at the rear and might get my mate to make some burley style front wish bones so the camber can be adjusted and the ball joint sits a a better angle, although I've not had it checked yet so not sure how far out it is.
Maybe a ball joint spacer is all thats needed?
I'm also thinking of some syncro services heavy duty rear cv's might be an idea.
I've fitted a stupid big bull bar that some people will hate but i needed somewhere to put my KC daylighters and it acts as a good plough.
and I've finally scrached all my nice shiny paint!
bloody starter motor has packed in now, what pig of a job that is i'm just parking on hills at the moment till I get round to fixing it.

Re: tyres fit almost
No need to change the rear CV joints as they are "16" the heaviest duty ones available.

I thought syncro services ones work through a bigger angle range?
