Low beams and high beam-switch not working

Post by Ollie »

Hi folks!

I have an issue with non working left and right main beam lights when i switch on the main head light switch. The little bulb on the outer side of each of the two big square lights are coming on however. Also the high beam "handle" does not stick in position when pulled back(with ignition on).
I dont know if its a common cause to the two issues or not... I guess I could try to change the switch on the "high beam handle", and even change the bulbs, but I got the feeling the cause is located somewhere else..
I do not hear any click in the fuse box when I turn on the ignition (a click can be heard on my petrol T25 but not on this diesel T25). Not sure if that i relevant here or not..

Any hints or pointers of where to start troubleshooting?

BR

With the engine running and the light switched to headlights pulling the switch towards you clicks main beam on AND off, not like a Fjord were the stalk stays forwards and back. Pulling the light stalk towards you also flashes the 'overtaking' light ... or if you have a diesel the 'sorry I pulled out and can't go anywhere' light

Funny....

to word myself better and hopefully better Ian..., with the engine running the main beam lights does NOT come on in my case, and pulling the switch towards you clicks main beam on, but only if you hold it there. If you let go it does not stay on.
Maybe its just the switch thats f^*&% then...

You been up here in the fjords then? Maybe with The Spead?

Solution to the non working main beam (low beam) was to change the white bottom pice in the ignition (correct word for it?). I took it from my T25 1988, which was lacking the S pin on the unit. After a test all seem to work...for a while. The indicators stopped working. I think thats related to a relay or a short, cause the same fault occours changing back to the old set up.

The right ignition piece has got the extra pin in the middle. Its marked "S". Anyone know what is for?
