oh! its a DH...

Post by slowcoach »

hello :)

ive always thought my engine was a 2.1, having been told by more than one mechanic that it was. id not been able to decipher the engine code, or really have a good look at it until yesterday.. and whaddaya know, it says DH 027557 under the grime.. so its a DH i take it? a 1.9 diji jet, with a cat.

im not really a petrol head (certainly dont know a great deal about engines!) and not interested in having the largest engine available so im not dissapointed, but i havnt seen much talk of DH codes here.

http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/VehicleSpec ... engine.htm
https://club8090.co.uk/wiki/Pe ... gine_codes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T3_(VW)#Petrol.2FGasoline

looks like it was only in use for 1 year though? so i hope its not a clanger. my van is a 1984 australian import, and has the australian vin plate riveted in the driver side footwell.

is there any info on this engine somewhere? it runs nice enough and since having the air/fuel mixture tuned its picked up quite a lot.

any info would be great!

thanks,

john.

1.9DH 83BHP. Not sure if you should be using super unleaded rather than standard. Sure there was loads of info on brickyard but can't find it.

Very common in the US try TheSamba.com and use the vanagon forum.
There's some very useful threads at the top of the page
