thermostat ???? and temp sender

hi .all

just changed thermostat due to overheat etc.(still showed over temp after new stat fitted) bled system etc.red light still flashing?? rad cold (fan is ok)

took stat out and run to see difference........rad gets hot/ re filled system again and bled..........drove to garage at 6am today+ light went out................gauge just about showing 1/4.(will get stat re fitted and run again)

where can i source a new temp sender???? (are they availble at vw)

any help appreciated

Where did you get the thermostat from ? Just cos it's 'new' don't mean it's any good remember.

the last one was from gsf(does not open in boiling water test)

this one from local parts supplier at 3 times cost of gsf part.(not that, that means anything)(will test that one later)van is currently at brothers garage(main dealer).he cured this the last time

any idea on temp sender

There ya go, that's what I would buy and fit. a geuine cap, sensor, radiator fan switch and thermostat. Note you are on/around the swap over to late cooling system so a photo would help of your engine bay to tell definately which one you have.

basicaslly there is a plastic thermo housing.
sender sticks out of side and held by clip??????
this is the part i think i need to change.?

Plastic thermostat housing = late system :ok

Yes sensor sticks out of there, you may also prefer to change the retaining clip ... http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/shop?page=s ... ory_id=118

The other parts I listed are those which control the cooling system and are those which are the most common things to fail, if you fit known good ones then you're off to a flying start. Just my opinion of course :|

always value the opinions of people with the knowledge,better to ask than fumble in the dark is my opinion.
