Hello,
Is there any difference between a 4 speed or 5 speed gear stick? It's for a 1.7TD 1989 camper whose gear stick snapped.
I've found a 4 speed shifter for sale but don't want to find out it's a different length to the 5 speed version.
Cheers!
Sean

4spd ones dont have the spring loaded bit that 5 spd ones have

Ah OK - Thanks.
I'll try and get the original one welded then, as I'm finding it impossible to find a 5 speed stick.

So does that mean the stick is the same, but not the joining mechanism? All I'm looking to replace is the stick.

the bottom of the 4 speed stick is opposite to the five speed stick.
so you get the idea- four speed stick- male end , shift rod female
five speed stick - female end , shift rod male
if you have all your old stick get it welded up! as long as the person doing it does it right it will never snap again!
i have done quite a few!
