Cornish coastal trip advice

Post by tomcourtney »

Planning a 16 day 'hug the coastline' Cornwall trip leaving tuesday . We will stay at a few campsites eg
Porth Beach at Newquay,
Don't know yet at St Ives,
Trevadra at Sennen,
Don't know yet at Mousehole
Don't know yet at Penzance
Henrys at Lizard
Don't know yet at St Austell
As a large lump of the holiday fund went on a gearbox and essential supplies such a Leffe Blonde beer and a decent couple of mixed wine cases we hope to wild camp (weather permitting) as much as possible.
Would appreciate any suggestions, any 'gems' not to miss and maybe the odd pm with wild camping spots .

Club 80-90 camps at Bluehills, St Agnes.
Nice walks, old tin mine nearby, St agnes is fab.. as is the beach and upon that beach is the much touted pub. you can park easily on the carpark for free as long as you have a pint..

It's on the itinerary, looks great. We haven't been to Henrys yet as we're relatively new to camping it up , left several mesages on Henrys answering service but no one has come back yet

Might be worth trying Henry's again - they are very laid back. We've had to wait for them to get back but they usuually get there in the end!

What's the pub called?
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for my liver) we can't get to the club meets eg Cromer as we work nights and our weekend is wednesday to friday afternoon , most of our holidays are spent at our place on Crete http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/greece/gr51.htm
so unless there is an occasional midweek meet

Your going to Cornwall and your weighing your van down with that Leffe foreign muck! By the time your back words such as Tribute, Doom Bar, Tinners and Knocker will be a second language to you!

Upper Lynestone campsite http://www.upperlynstone.co.uk/index.htm between Bude and Widemouth Bay is a nice little spot, and for St Austell after you've visited the brewery head to Penhale campsite on the road to Fowey http://www.penhale-fowey.co.uk/Camping/ Its a ten minute walk to the beach/pub on the beach.
