Re: post wales weekend
Thanks to Doug for co-ordinating everything, sorting the groups that worked well, Doug & Aidan for the lanes, and Jenny for finding such a great campsite (and nuff cheap too!)... sleeping yet again within the sounds of a flowing river, more of a gushing torrent than the gentle tinkling brook at SP, Salisbury and Derbyshire, but running water all the same.
Very well attended, and more newcomers than we've had at an event for a long time - always a good sign, and with it the the widening range of vehicle builds and knowledge and creativity of members seems to have no limit. It's all great pickups and incredible campers, where are the Caravelles
Thanks to the four group leaders; Doug, Aidan & Dai, Mark & Jenny
Thanks to everyone who came and gave Snowdonia Lanes a chance - weren't they as much a treat as the dramatic scenery?
... and of course the weather was no hindrance and mostly absolutely benign.

Menhir horizing...
Spot the odd man out
Barmouth a long way away
Rocky climb up to the pass
Nick & Jon Spong enjoyed their first Syncronaut event
Nick's 16" mTdi Doka
Getting used to the Snowdonia terrain...
Tim and family in their (special invite) Disco, made light work of it
Ian SB passengered in Neil AM's Doka
Quite wet in many places, moreso Sunday after a full night's rain
Dai opened all the gates for our group Sunday, Aidan shut them
Clouds down on't hills quite often till after lunch Sunday, then improved dramatically
Looked like another crew had been up the castle lane climb earlier... ripped to shreds at one spot
(we had fun & light entertainment getting everyone through).
View
Falling stream
Stone road gate
Max and Spike
Julia & Roger's Spike stowed away (took them 200 miles to discover him onboard!)
Back at the campsite, Sunday evening sunset creeping up on us all...
Nick, Jon & mates
Tim & family
Syncroandy & his great set up
How many marks out of ten for this shot Jed?
Airing the old doka
Monday nice coastal drive heading towards Aberystwyth

Good composition Clive! Is that a Ferrari heading for Aberystwyth?
I think I only took one half-decent group pic as I did a fair bit of gate closing...funny that...and brewing up if we stopped for more than 2 minutes
Will find and upload later.

Re: post wales weekend
great pics by 'harrymann' thanks for capturing my break down half way up! 'syncroandy's ammo box stove is a corker, within 3 mins on being stoked and fed with wood his tent was rrrroasting, he made the whole thing up himself - the door on it was very neat work.
enjoy Jeds picture of his own van through the Juncus rushes - sweet shot.
ive got a new engine on delivery now as mine gave out somewhat and is on its last legs, seems that dodging Sundays lanes was a wise move!
been speaking to folk about lanes up here but scot's law and ROW doesnt look good for lanning - will keep investigating.
whens the next outing!?
did it take much negotiation getting by on-coming off roaders that i see in 'HM's pic?
thanks again for organising.

That's a real shame - Neil and I had a good old chinwag about B23 motor pros/cons and he's all set to get an old 940 off ebay to dismantle...what let you down in the end?lughole wrote:ive got a new engine on delivery now as mine gave out somewhat and is on its last legs

Re: post wales weekend
it is a shame, but engines go sometimes, this is the forth engine ive had to replace ( not in this wagon! ), so i dont get too upset anymore, saying that gonna be £500 down
im happy with the b230a and will do a like for like replacement (also its the quickest way to get the vehicle back to work for monday.)
its burning oil like a badboy but i dont know whats exactly wrong yet, i will take a look inside with some mates and see if it can be brought back to life ( i dont hold much hope) quicker to slam another in. its all about the time for me as im using it 5 or 6 days a week.
see last weekend, although ive done offroading for work - forest planting and fencing, if there was a horrible looking bit we would go round or reroute, we wouldnt have pressed on through like we did this weekend. Learnt alot in a day. seems to be alot of 'pay to play' stuff up here and not much free laning. or i havent found much on internet. lot of ROW law to look into.
How about vyrnwy dam? going back there in spring....
