Where to buy T25 brake components from?

Post by cruising_r32 »

Hi guys,

My T25 camper has to have an engineers report drawn up to keep the insurance people happy.
After driving it about, I reckon it could do with a new set of pads, shoes, brakes hoses, fluid and hand brake cable.

So, I'm thinking I would be best off just replacing the whole lot so its all fresh-
front brake hoses
front brake discs
front brake pads
rear brake hoses
rear brake drums
rear brake shoes
rear brake shoe fitting kit
hand brake cables
brake fluid

I've seen a few posts on here questioning the quality of GSF parts, this is where I was going to buy my parts from but I really don't want any quality issues making the job harder for me so is there anywhere else that can supply all these parts are a reasonable price?
I'm based in Dublin but do be in Belfast quite a bit too so can pick up the parts from either.
Or if anyone knows of a UK supplier that will post at a sensible price.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated,

Alan.

I use Euro Car parts and buy the OEM quality stuff.

like most places you can buy cheap reproduction stuff or buy the OEM quality. Euro car parts usually stock it all. Very good prices too.

I use Brickwerks not only because it's good quality stuff but also because I know I'm getting the right stuff for my van and that it's as close to "buying local" as I can get. Plus, when talking brakes there should be no compromise on quality and compatability.

"feck" chainstores!

I picked up the VW Heritage T25 catalogue at the weekend and their list of parts is incredible. I reckon you could build a T25 from scratch. The quality of their parts is still not known though, and some of it looks like the rubbish Just Kampers sell.

I can testify to crap parts syndrome.....replaced everything on my rears 18months ago and after bedding in they started to squeel big time. I have cleaned out the dust, re-greased the back plates and adjusted them up, taken off the leading edge etc etc and still they piggin squeel like a pig...I guess thats what you get for going non branded. Sure they work fine but it is just plain embarressing everytime I brake more than gently.

I intend to replace them AGAIN soon.

So should I stay away from GSF and other auto factors and just buy from Brickworks?

I've been buying the two different camper mags for the last few months and would have though just kampers was a good place to go :?

Seen VW Heritage website, love the exploded parts diagrams- makes it so much easier to see what you need and order it without sounding like a "idiot" trying to describe where a part is and what it looks like.
