Water leaks in doka

Post by pinkpanther »

Hi everyone especially Corgette!
I have a water leak in my storage locker and for the life of me I can't find where the water is coming in, has anybody got an idea where the most common place is to look. Cheers.

Join the club mate.

I've got the same problem and after much searching found it is most likely coming from the ROOF.
Two reasons.....Dokas have no insulation in the roof void above the head liner and the amount of condensation that forms in there is unbelievable.
The water droplets run down the B post internally and end up in the locker or coming out of the sip vents in the sill.
If your Docka has a Vindic cover on the back, they are famous for rubbing a hole above the gutter under the seal where you can't see it.
Easy way of finding if its coming from the roof is to remove the large grommet from inside the bottom of the B posts in the cab stick a bit newspaper in for a few days and
if its soaking wet after you remove it then your roof is the source of the water.
If you suspect the load bed get a big piece of card board and fit it in the top of the locker box and look for water marks to find the holes.
Easiest way of checking the door seals is to tape over them before it rains and after a few days of rain if you locker box is still dry then its got to be the seals.

Hope these tips help you find the source of your water .............

Cheers, I went out in the rain today(got soaked ) and looked in the storage locker there were no drips or water runs from the load bed, but could see water coming in from hatch doors! Where is the best place to get new or reconditioned door seals. Have got a cover over load bed and can't see any rubbing on roof where it connects. I will also try rubber grommet and try the news paper. You are definitely right about the condensation!!
