Excessive tyre wear all of a sudden!

Post by LLOYDIE »

Hi all,
Within the last month or so have started to get excessive wear on the outer edge of my front drivers side tyre. To my knowledge I havent hit it....the only thing that was done to it was a new gater fitted for the mot...but surely the garage wouldnt have touched the tie rod ends and altered the tracking would they??????? There doesnt seem to be any uneven wear on the other side though. Anybody any thoughts?? Or reasons...

Thanks

They would have had to have taken the track rod end off to get the gater on wouldnt they? sounds like the tracking is out. I would take it to a tyre place to get it done and tell them to wright down how much it was out, go to the mot place, explain about how tyre waer has to be the same and try and blag a new set of tyres from them. Worth a try, they can only say no.

I'd suspect camber if only one tyre effected although they shouldn't have needed to interfear with this.

Just one of my tyres wore down quite quick once on my doka when the tracking was out. Actually the outer bit of my westy was looking thin a couple of weeks ago and the tracking was out on that too when I had it looked at.

Not good!!!!!!! The tyre fitters adjusted the camber as much as they could to get it any way near right!!! Tracking was out as well and it does drive much better but they think bushes are worn etc. I think its time for new bushes throughout the front suspension!!!!! This was my decision after the usual thorghts of....I've had enough of this and i'm going to sell it!! I spose its not bad after 21 years??
Thanks for all help.
