van not starting
running a 1989 t25 1.9 on lpg, with lpg in the tank
went out to start the van earlier and its dead, nothing nadda ziltch, no noise nothing.
Have put battery on charge to see if its that
Having very little knowledge about these things what are the possible causes please?

two of the things it might be are your battery is draining to earth.or your alternator is not charging your battery.

Have a look at the back of the alternator and check that the cable is good and tight. with out multi meters and the like you'll not be able to work out what the problem is, if you can get it started get it to cromer and we can have a look.
as an aside not check that the LPG switch is in the correct possition before starting, if it's in the middle position then it won't start - been there done that!

you will need to get the van running to check the alt output.you will need a volt meter to do this.to check the other.i use a bulb with two pieces of wire soldered to it.you have to disconnect the battery earth wire.put one wire to the -on the battery the other to the earth wire if the bulb lights up.then its draining to earth.i realise you might not be able to do this yourself.are there any friendly 8090ers near you..

If none of the above, reach under and check starter motor cables are actually connected.

I'm at home me dads gone to have a look now and is gonna put battery on charge overnight he's gonna check headlights as Ian kindly suggested so will keep thread updated xjamesc76 wrote:is it fixed yet ????

Thanks for the suggestions- my dad found a lead off the selonoid*spelling and has reconnected it and the bad bus lives again
