Bottom hose on the rad take it off. Possibly raise the rear of the vehicle.
You will be hard pushed to get every little drop of it out whatever method you use.

Re: Draining Coolant - JX
They are a pain in the ring to drain completely.
Lowest point would be where the radiator hoses meet the pipes, next to the spare wheel.
If you want to do a good job, undo both those.
Then, when they are undone get your gob around the header tank and blow the rest out.
Would also be worth dropping the thermostat to drain the engine.
16 litres (ish) is the capacity 6-8 litres of neat antifreeze should see you right.
While the rad hoses are off, best to inspect the ends of the front to rear coolant pipes, if they have never been done I can almost guarantee they will be shagged.
They you have to do the job again when your new pipes arrive.
It's almost worth having a set handy before you drop the coolant.
oh the joys of having a stocked parps dept...

Re: Draining Coolant - JX
Thanks chaps.
Just found my dodgy diesel manual from Just Kampers - says "Drain the coolant by either removing the lower water hose at the pump, and the connection pipe; or the centre hose". Draining from the lowest point sounds a better bet to me, but is this worth doing to get as much as possible out of the engine?

My JX drained in a couple of seconds when the rubber pipe came off the front to back pipe in the middle of the Elbe Tunnel.
It furked the motor as well mind.
