T25 DF or DG engine

Post by onarollinit »

Hi everyone,
Had fire in the engine bay. Put out in good time!! (Please invest in the powder fire extinguisher).
Log book says: 03 09 1985 Transporter 60ps 1915cc Petrol. Vin/Chassis no: WV2ZZZ25ZFH090175. Engine no:DF048418.
Problem is later paperwork says it had re con DG engine. The engine number has been ground off. Spoke to the company and the chap was more than evasive.
Research that I have done suggest that it is a DF engine but I aint no mechanic so I am looking for confirmation before I buy the parts I need.
The carb is: Solex 34pict - 5
The water pipes that run from the rad to the engine bay are the white opaque plastic type.
Can some one out there send me some pics of the Df engine or and any more info that I may need

HELP HELP HELP HELP????/

Many Thanks Paul

location ? it should be in your profile, if your in gloucester i could pop over and help?

the engines are interchangeable

far memory its mainly the heads that are different

df and early dg engines used the same cooloing system

early metal pipes are frequently replace with plastic later ones due to corrosion.

unless you strip your engine you wont know if its been built to dg or df standards

single choke 36pict carb is a df carb

i think in this case picture will speak 1000 words.

also which parts do you need ? some are interchangeable so again you need to more specific.

Hi Billy, thanks for quick response. Im in Devon. Need most of the hoses, electrics and plastics. Carb and distributor. Ive been offered job lot for £250.00 plus £200.00 to do the job so cant moan. Need some pics to be sure or some one with the df set up to park along side of mine. Obviously cant drive mine so would pay for cost of travelling etc. So long as not comming from India!!! Vw is in Exeter . Regards Paul
