Dashboard warning lights

Post by cherrydocs »

Between the speedo and rev counter on my T25 Caravelle there is the usual cluster of warning lights; indicator, main beam, battery charging, and oil pressire. Below this cluster of 4 lamps, there are normally 2 blank positions. On my vehicle one of these positions is marked OXS, and I have been scratching my head as to what this stands for or represents. Can anyone tell me what the OXS warning light is for?

Thanks for your reply, very interesting. I wonder if this might have been something for the US market - I know they introduced emissions control way before us in the UK (mine is an 87 vehicle). I thought that an oxygen sensor would sit in the exhaust stream however, and can't see anyting 'wired up' to my exhaust. Also I don't have fuel injection. The other strange thing on my van is that the position within the warning light cluster is marked up OXS, but the LED is missing rather than being blanked off. Help me out, my suspicious mind has been working overtime on this;
1. Either it was never fitted (but the factory did go to the trouble of marking it up)
2. It was fitted, but at some point a fault with the lamp develpoed that couldn't be sorted - so somone pulled out the LED.
3. The warning light module in the dash has been changed at some point (potntially for a US version).
Any ideas out there, or does anyone else have OXS marked in their warning lamp cluster next to a missing LED rather than a blank space?
