Oil temp & pressure gauges
Hi - Just looking for any thoughts on fitting the senders for oil temp & pressure gauges on 2.1 on carb - is it best to fit remote pipe and small manifold block from existing oil pressure switch for both or use sump plug for temp - any thoughts folk

Re: Oil temp & pressure gauges
Hello,
I've got a diesel but I fitted one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0666497627
to the tapping on the cylinder head for the oil pressure gauge and low pressure sender. You could use it for oil temp too. It works well for me and seems to read correctly with an autogauge oil pressure gauge.
Some people talk about using a "sandwich plate" or a "t-piece" which would allow you different options.

remove the push rod tin protection and remove the OPS, buy some s/s break hose with an m10x1.0 thread male fitting at one end and a female fitting at the outher end.fit the male fitting in where you just removed the switch from and route the pipe in to the engine bay. you will have to notch the tin.

mount the new oil preasure sender using a large p-clip in the engine bay and conect the pipe, i made a compleate new loom for the oil preasure, temp and ran 3 extra cable just in case all in trunking, all joints criped and heat shrunk. the brass T houses a high preasure switch and the sender (double pole has a low preasure swich in it 0.5bar so this is a compleate set up for my buzzer of doom. i did this as i also removed the outher oil preasure switch (located by the crank pully) and located the oil temp sender there.
Rember to buy a roll of ptfe tape (pumbers tape) for all of you threaded joints(male). this will save you any leaks once the oil gets hot and thin.

there is a second high preasure switch (the buzzer of doom uses 2 switched to work) which is located buy the pully, i removed it and located it in the brass t peice, and insalled the oil temp sender there as it is sat on the oil in that location. and i did not want a sump sender becouse i did not want wires under the engine block and it would only be a matter of time before it got riped off.
