Water Pump
Trying to change the water pump but can't get the pulley off. How do I stop it from turning as I try to loosen the bolts?

Re: Water Pump
either refit the belt.... (assuming the pump is still on the vehicle) or wrap the belt around it and hold it...
Be carefull not to bend the pulley halves if you have to use more brute force..

Re: Water Pump
If the belt method don't work use two spanners / allen keys ( depending what type bolts) one to hold, one to undo. For last bolt wedge screwdriver somewhere through one of pulley holes to lock it.

Re: Water Pump
put a wood chock (wedge) between the pulley's
or belt on tight and clout the spanner on the bolt (shock it)

Re: Water Pump
Got the pump off at last. The shock treatment worked (thanks Kev).
4 bolts holding the pump in place and had to remove the alternater as well. None of the manuels or other guides told me this!!! We live and learn.. Now to find the right part...
