syncro lower bal joint

Post by m3nutter »

a year ago i fitted replacement cast arms to my 14incher as the old fab ones had rotted thro. i replaced all bushes and one top ball joint - it went thro mot no prob.

this year hes advised me on "lift on lower ball joints"! this puzzles me as a) i cant feel any pleay in that front suspension anywhere and b) i cant see hows hes checked it as the joint goues the other way to a 2wd so the load is trying to push it together.

anyone had issues with this before i plan a mission to press new ones in!

oh and please could anyone tell me what dia they are in cast arms 48.6mm?

thanks
Nick

Just lifting a van off the road and feeling by hand for play is not the way to check a T3 syncro.
You need to get a bar between the CJ joint and the ball joint, this will show the play.
Also, depends of what ball joints you used, syncros eat cheap ball joints.
Also had the cast arms with enlarged holes sp ball joints aren't as tight as they could be.
I have some Meyle HD ball joints here which are a slightly larger diameter so they will fit and stay snug in worn arms.
