If any one is running an old petrol one then what they might save on initial cost it will cost um on fuel!
Oh and i had a petrol one in a 1969 bay i had in Germany, which after close inspection by the fire brigade was to blame for the the whole van going up!

But thats fine for family trips and if I'm just surfing somewhere I wear more clothes!
This sounds like a good idea. Where did you fit it? We use hook up a lot these days as it seems to work out equal to paying for the leccy or paying for the gas.
I bought a quartz 240v electric heater from JK. It is not fitted but free standing. I just plug it in. It has two 400w bars. I found with the doors closed I only needed one bar to heat up such a small space in late October.

I don't complain.......I'm toooooooooo cold to do that, but just when driving...
...Not when camped up though, got my gas fire for warmth.( I know need ventilation but when it's lit I need to, it's too warm.lol) I have one of those canister types and to be honest...I'm still here and still warm in the winter, with vent open and sometimes a front window, enough ventilation..my alarm doesn't go off

You are correct Horns in that there are petrol and diesel Eber's, however, Eberspacher haven't made a petrol one in years, they dont produce any spares for them now and their agents wont work on them. So being practical about it Eberspacher running off of diesel or Propex running off of gas is a pretty sensible statement for someone considering putting heating into their bus.

Actually, I'd say stating that Eber's run off diesel is pretty poor advice for someone looking to fit a heater - what if they get hold of a petrol one (as we've seen, there are plenty around) and try and run it off diesel due to the misguided comments on here?

FFS, I've already said you are correct! Just saying and I stand by it that from a practical point of view someone wishing to fit a heater new would be better fitting a diesel Eber or gas Propex rather than an obsolete petrol Eber. If you already have a petrol one thats working well and you have access to some spares and know what you're doing working on them then fine but if you are a newbie with limited knowledge it would be bad advice to fit a 20 year old petrol Eber. Just my opinion but I think its valid, although I await your reply

Then more fool them for not looking at the units serial number. Plus the petrol ones look different to the diesel ones.
Simon you appear to be bored again. How about you nipping out to your van and test your ebber and let us know why it isn't running , that would be a more productive use of your very valuable time. Post some pictures of it and the switch unit , they will help
Simon , how do you work that out ,I'm offering you help in trying to fix your heater, if you did take the time to look ,I have stripped down and rebuilt a few ebbers and have fitted loads to members vans, I even have two in my shed running . But if you don't want help then I won't offer it.
