overheating light on changed sender..still on?

Post by conkers »

Hi i have a 1983 1.6d and recently the gauge has been showing that its overheating. I changed the sender, and it worked properly for 5 mins but now shows overheating again. Its not overheating, it goes straight into the red once the ignition is turned on from cold....any ideas?

Bad earths? They are under the dash behind the fuse box. Disconnect the battery and get a wire brush on them.

the sender wire from the sender is earthed somewhere you'll have to go continuity checking, but could well be bad connection at the multiplug or as stated bad earth crown causing path of least resistance in the dash
