83 1.9 Petrol manual
Changed the stater motor for a one thats supposed to be good. I bought it loacally.
The symptoms are.
Big click form the solonoid.
No spin of the motor / engine.
I shorted the big stud with the terminal next to it (on the starter) the starter spins. This is while it's fitted.
So I'm thinking the bush in the gear box.
I ve cleaned the gear box earth.
I tried to remove the bush but couldn't
So I have a new bush. But it's in the garage not on the van.
Is it the bush? How do I get the little tinker to jump out the gear box?
Not turning over....is it the bush?

Re: Not turning over....is it the bush?
if it spins when you bypass the solenoid then it's probably the solenoid cap contacts - the click says the solenoid is moving but it isn't making the contact that supplies power to the motor - usual failure mode, proabably wants a refurb, and whilst it's out this time you can do the bush, it's on the wiki
