mot question - hole in drivers side foot well

Post by bartlby bus »

hi just tiding the van for its mot and lifted the rubber mat from the drivers side foot well there is a big rust hole there about 2 inches across. does any one know if it would fail the mot for this - could I just patch it up for the moment with fibre glass and mesh? i think it will need a patch welding in at some stage any one know what i should be charged for this and if it is possible
any help would be gratefully received.
cheers

I'd patch it up and replace the mat putting plenty of underseal to cover it up

less of the underseal. just paint it as its a pain to remove/weld over in future.

Hi, I lifted my cab mat about a month ago and discovered the same - think it had run down from the hole in the corner of the windsreen. However I got it welded, mainly because my accelerator pedal was holding on by the skin of its teeth, and I wasn't too happy about the thought of loosing it mid journey!

It was fairly big, and I had the foot step done too. I think that was all i had done at the time and it came to 80 quid. Not sure if thats good or not, but I like the bloke, and don't really trust anyone else.
