Re: split charge
seems very expensive pal
Have you looked in the wiki and seen the split charge diagram?
70A split charge relays are a couple of quid from Maplin, add on the cableing and connectors from your local Wholesaler (Rexel Senate, Edmundson, CEF etc) and I doubt you'll be much over twenty quid
just a thought if you wanted to save some dosh as it would do the same thing
thing is ..if your main battery is run down the charging system might rob it of much needed amps to charge the Aux

.just simply connect to the vehicle battery terminals

Re: split charge
Cant knock the company, theyve made looms for me in the past for xk jags and others all with the correct braided cabling and perfect fit etc but I feel this is a nice shiny 'product' and very dear for what it is/does

Re: split charge
Quick look - it doesn't even seem to be a split charger - just a power distribution unit. Worth £110? A fuse box/panel is far cheaper.

Re: split charge
It does do the full shooting match and if you are not competent to install a split charge system with the usual relay arrangement etc then this could be the piece for kit for you. if you were looking for some one (ahem) to fit a split charge and distribution fuse box in your van you wouldn't be too far behind the price for one of those any way and I think that is how they have worked out the price.
The down side is that it works with a voltage sensing relay for the split charge. on a modern van t4 etc it will work fine, on a T25 you may have some problems with the reliability of the split charge.

Re: split charge
Had another look at it - if the lead to the main battery is the one for charging it appears under rated with a 30A fuse. It would make more sense as a split charger to have cabling the same as the thicker ones shewn and fuses and relay to suit. 30A is a bit low for a flat leisure battery as a lot of people have found.
I have no problem with a 120A voltage sensing relay on my van (plus cabling to suit).

Re: split charge
the cable in is a 4mm tri-rated flexible cable that will handle in excess of 30A, which for anything but a completely flat battery will be more than sufficient.
The cables going in to the box from the leisure battery are so big because the box acts as a distribution point too with all the fuses, so the load out of the battery could be greater than the charge load in.

Re: split charge
No way is 30A 'more than sufficient' - a 1/2 dead 110Ah leisure will pull far in excess of 30A from alternator and battery on switch over. See the various posts on here and the Brickyard for people with problems due to the insufficiency of 30A setups.
