secondary battery cut off relay ???

Hi i have a 1981 Aircooled westy and need a little help please.
I am a newbee to the site and have only had my camper for a little over 2 months now.
Firstly- What does the secondary battery cut off relay do ???
Secondly- i have found it as described behind the drivers seat and the cables are disconnected, so dont even know if it works , however.
I have the following cables but do not know to which number tag on the raly they should go or where thay are going ???
Brown- already connected goes to chassis on a tag on the relay
Blue - Unknown
Red/Black - Unknown
Red- 25 amp fused from battery -Unknown
Red yellow- doesnt seem to be connected to realy and goes away somewhere?
Oh and by the way the charger is us , the primary coil has gone on the transformer !!!

Have a look in the wiki for the wiring for a split charge circuit, but basically it means that you can run things connected to the leisure battery without draining your starter battery. It gets a charge from the alternator whilst the engine is running but then the relay clicks off and isolates the 2 batteries. Word of warning though; don't assume your radio etc IS wired to the leisure battery ! In a Westy it won't be as standard, but again the wiki has an easy modification to put this right.
