Heat exchanger cables?

Post by 72BUG »

Forgive me if this has been asked before. I've done a search but can't find the answer.

I've fitted new heat exchangers and due to the cable to the controll pods not working I have manually opened the pods using cable ties. The van is now baking hot and it would be nice to have a bit more direct controll over the temperature.

The actual controll lever in the dash moves freely but the cables at the back don't move so the cable must be broken somewhere. So how much of a job is it to fit new cables to controll the heat exchanger pods?

a) Is it a dashboard out job?

b) Is it a single cable which splits somewhere to both pods or is it 2 seperate cables which attach to the one lever in the front?

Many thanks

Martin

A/ NO
B/ 2 Cables on one controller
Can be a real mare when the shroud has been nicked and gone rusty which can be the cause of the non movement...
From what I can remember when removing just the cable there is a captive bobble at the pod end, crimped behind a sleeve somewhere which means when pulling from dash side it fouls up in the shroud

If renewing both cable and shroud note that mine had some sort of clip hidden by the petrol tank....
