Convert twin square headlight back to single round
Hi, Ive recently purchased a twin square headlight van and looking to restore it back to original state, in other words to the round single headlight. I have the grill, however do not have the headlights and Im also unsure if its a straight forward conversion or should i be prepared for hassle/costs etc. Any tips to where i can source cheap round headlights , and any info on doing the conversion would be very gratefully received!
Cheers all

I'm sure there will be lots of people on here willing to do a trade with theirs in order to go the oposite way.

No hassle in the conversion back to round headlights I imagine - should just screw straight in. LIke said above you won't be short of offers to trade.

Re: Convert twin square headlight back to single round
why? i know everyone is different but squares look so much nicer and light up the road hell of alot better than round ones. You will find loads of people willing to swap because RHd square light are like rocking horse pooh and fetch £££'s where as round ones fetch £ . do a straight swap for some round here if interested

I've always preferred round headlights - was one of the reasons I bought my old MK2 golf.

If they are rhd then I have a set of rhd round lights that I would be willing to do a trade on?
The only reason I never got rid of them is because my squares are lhd and some MOT stations are pretty specific.
Sure I have the grill too......
pm me if your interested...

you must have an early van then.as late vans came with the far superior square ones.

Hi
Yep, have round lights and grill on my van that i'd be interested in swapping if you like.
Where abouts in the country are you?

A square headlight van is missing two securing tabs for the front grill and that's it really. Basically it means your grill will only be secured using the outer and centre screws.
From someone who removed round lights for square, round lights suck. Square look better and give off a better light spread, especially with relays.
PS. I will just point out (seeing as nobody else has) that RHD square lights are fetching around £120 on fleabay. So if you are really wanting to go back to the dark ages and fit round lights you can make a bit of cash too

Re: Convert twin square headlight back to single round
I fitted square but reverted to round. Sure they were brighter but I didn't think they looked right. Was also going to fit a lower spoiler but when I offered it up again I didn't think it looked right.
I prefer the dated look, a bit more character. If I wanted more modern I would buy a later T25 or a T4.

Re: Convert twin square headlight back to single round
Just to be pernickety here, round or square has nothing to do with "more modern", just with trim level. To the very last day you could get a transporter with round headlamps. If they're in decent condition (and fitted with H4 bulbs and not the auld bilux shoyte) they're also just as bright, if not brighter than the square ones.
Round headlamps came with basic spec, steel bumper vehicles; wide bumper, plastic cladded vans got the square ones.
