Bugger to get it out of 5th and now 4th is getting sticky - even worse if I come to a halt in one of those gears. There's also a knock from underneath the pedals on acceleration/decellleration - sounds as if a pedal has been allowed to spring back up by itself. This started roughly the same time so possibly connected.
I'm hoping linkages as opposed to gearbox...any suggestions would be appreciated..

somthing similar happened to me had the gear box
out turned out to be Spigot shaft bearing cost fiver from brickwerks!
