Only running on three. Funny ting ting noise!

Hi.
Doka has been running sweet as anything. no issues for about 3000 miles.
Parked it up midday Saturday, fine. Went back to it 7pm. Straight from start-up the tappets were noisey. Thought "Oh, strange one of the tappets has drained down" Drove it about 3 miles, tappet noise did improve, but no power. Was still only running on 3. Tick-over was real lumpy. No drips, oil & water levels good.
Managed to crawl home, but noticed when turning left could hear a ping, ping, ting, ting noise coming from engine, didn't do it on right turns.
Strange hey, not CV's definately engine.

Maybe dizzy has slipped slightly, putting timing out. Would account for lack of power and pinging sound. Only a guess mind...

Take rocker covers off and have a look, may have a loose adjuster...
