Swivel seat bases for Caravelle

Post by cherrydocs »

Hello, new boy here. Any opinions out there on what would be the best swivelling seat bases to buy. Bluebird offer them at £165 each and state that are a simple bolt in fit, JustKampers offer them at £158 each but say that modification 'may' be required to the tool box lid on Caravelles. Was wondering if for may I should read will. Thanks.

and you will no doubt have to remove the toolbox cover.as you will be unable to lift it once the base is fitted..

but say that modification 'may' be required to the tool box lid on Caravelles

Would the swivelling base not silde forward with the seat to give access to the tool box lid?

Sorry to disagree with you Rob but our Westy has original seats that swivel and move forward to allow access to the tool/battery box.

However whilst you can lift the lid you need to undo some of the bolts to remove the battery as it's quite a tight fit.

Thanks for your comments, think I will get one to start with and see how the fitting goes. I wouldn't be prepared to loose sliding adjustment to the seat - bit of a strip down to get to the battery doesn't sound too offputting, better than throwing away the toolbox lid.

Apologies cherrydocs if I misled you and thanks to Rob for putting me right. I had assumed that replacements would be to the same spec as the originals
