Yep, a Polo on right in the middle of the dash.
They are meant to be sh!t hot too.
Rather large list of missing parts just gone into classic parts
Body going to come off the chassis later in the week, get rid of that hammerite and cover with some matt green then hopefully back on before the lights etc land from Germany.
I got a few more bits to order too then hopefully fire into it get the wiring finished off and get it registered and tested.

You didn't see Baxter at Mammut park then? He stays in Hotels and visits the german susage bugervan type thing several times an evening so seems to have those bases covered.

Was that the 'project' on ebay recently?

The on-road driving characteristics of the Iltis with its short, narrow wheelbase and high centre of gravity (and on military tyres) were so bad that the german army handbook for Iltis drivers made it mandatory to have 4WD engaged at all times in order to bring down the number of bad accidents with this vehicle.

Yeah ...it's for "men" alright

You think I'm going to drive a Petrol? and then even a petrol with a carburettor, your smoking crack!

It will get commisioned on the petrol engine, MOT'd and probably run around locally to get a feel for it but there is already a AAZ sat in the corner waiting.
I'm just 2 parts short, the cast elbow that comes off a GTD engine from the turbo, and the Iltis TD downpipe but thats €250 ish retail! just need to get it on the road first.
Going to pull the body off at the weekend and I'm just wondering if I should just chuck the engine in then, bit easier to get running as a Diesel...
dunno..

Yes Glen, it was the project on E-bay.
Already traced most of it's history, but I'll save that for www.iltis.co.uk

Mefros already paid for! going from ET65!! to ET35 (I think) so already theres an improvement, and I'm gunna put some AT's on I think, those military tyres look scarey!

Well, I had a spare half an hour, so I took the body off the chassis today.
I think the Diesel maybe coming quicker than anticipated (ahem)
Looking at the engine, it's just a bit, camp, and I don't want to waste my time trying to get it to work, while everything is stripped I might as well just make it Diesel.
Paint landed today to sort the chassis out from the nasty green hammerite.
Jet washed all the hood and doors, came up shicking well, surprised me.
Missing bits of wiring ordered, loom manufacture time!
All happening quite quickly.
