how much are people paying for a ferry

Post by lloydy »

And what ports did you go between? Would be very interested in what a high top would cost during the summer holiday period, as i am thinking of going next year. The ferry companies aren't posting prices for next year yet.
Thanks, Lloyd

Hi Lloydy, went to france this year by eurotunnel, v similar cost to ferry when I booked it in Jan, cost for hi top n 8ft trailer was £230. Went 10pm friday night, came back just before midday on a Sunday.

Eurotunnel dont make extra charges for hi vehicles, just need to know to manage space.

Her indoors and youngest daughter arent good sailers so the small extra costs (about £40 I reminder) was well worth the lack of drama!

Im waiting for new fares being listed so I can book again for next year. Eurotunnel again for me.

Richard

Lloydy is gassed, you can't use Eurofunnel if your vehicle uses lpg.

We went Dover> Boulogne with LD lines and that was £82 return for our 2.7mtr hightop 7th August, 2 adults, 2 kids.

Wow a lot cheaper than i thought. Had a quote for a ferry to santander, was about £1400  for this summer.
Going to france is a lot cheaper then.
Forgot about the LPG restrictions, with the tunnel.
With prices that cheap, can't see any reason not to go, thanks everyone :ok

You cant knock £40 return can you  I booked the week before and it was about £100, no limit on hight on Sea France as it goes on length (my van with the kayak on is taller than your van Lloydy). I know your only on it for just over an hour but the Sea France ferries are much nicer than Norfolk line.

PS. seen that Syncro hightop for sale in the vans for sale section

I did a couple of months ago, had a bit of interest. Then the wife noticed, and off it came, should of mentioned it to her i suppose :)
Probably next year sometime, will be syncro time. I've only had this one 8 months.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread, but just out of sheer nosey-ness and curiosity why cant you take a vehicle on the euro tunnel if it runs on LPG? Is it to do with cabin pressure as it were?
