idle stabilizing unit ?

Post by muley »

i have a 2.0 Aircooled CU engine which has been cutting out when i lift of the gas so me and my dad were having a look at it and when we read the Haynes manual there was a picture of the idle stabilizing unit next to the ignition control amplifier module, well my old bus has never had one so my question is do i need one ? my old bus does run a little fast but would it make it run any better ?
cheers :D

NO, dont bother refitting one they always fail and are not that effective...

sounds like carb problem, either dirty jet, poor adjustment, air leaks or worn out carbs... BUT.. a jolly good service, check over and set up should be orders of the day... inspect the vac advance unit on the dizzy and test to see if working correctly too...

I had the same problem with mine, turned out the servo hose had become detached. As Toomanytoys said, air leaks, carb's full of gunk or blocked fuel filter seems most likely.
